RAIN
On Sunday, the first rainy day of the week, I was waddling out to something petrifying. When I was almost at the gate, I saw it, the biggest puddle I had ever seen. It was ten centimetres deep and it blocked both paths. So I went to the other gate, but it was locked! So I climbed onto the garage….SPLASH!!!! I had fallen in. The puddle had mud in it, so it was quite squelchy. Finally, Mum came out. “Oh no!” she said, terrified. Alex came running for me. SPLOOSH!!! He fell in. “Awww, Alex!” I said. Very disgusted, Mum came over and hoisted us up on the other side. Then…SPLASH!!! “Awwww Mum!!” we both said.

FLOOD
Just after power walking across the crossing and slipping to the ground, I got up and found a flood straight through the school gates. What could happen next? I had to climb around the fence, and leap to the side, and walk through the other puddles, and get to class. Also the playground had a flood and I was in shoes. By the time I got to class I was drenched and freezing like ice. I took forever to get to class. I had so wished that I brought my gumboots. I felt really, really bad and unhappy.

SNOW
One day it was snowing. I just got up to go to school but the next door neighbour said that her car slipped. So I could not go to school. So I played with my neighbours. We made snowmen by getting snow off the car into buckets. Then we got a carrot for the nose. Then we made slushies. We put snow in the blender and raro. Then we had snowball fights.

RAIN
Drip, drip, drip, drip, splash. I heard the sound of rain outside. “Oh, no”, I whispered. I put my dressing gown on, and went downstairs. I opened up all the curtains but when I came to the curtains in Dad’s office, I found our deck was flooded. I raced upstairs, put my clothes on, and went outside. I was skidding on the deck when…knock, knock, knock. I heard a knocking sound on the door. Thanks goodness it was only Mum. I thought it would be my annoying brother, Mark, coming to bug me. Mum told me I had to go back inside and that I shouldn’t have gone out in the first place. I guess I made too much noise and woke her up. I went inside and had breakfast. During breakfast I asked Mum if I could go outside after I had had breakfast and washed my teeth. She said, “yes”. I went outside after I did my teeth and found Mark was there. “Uh, oh.”

DRIP
Three weeks ago there was a leak in our classroom. I noticed it first, then I told Lewis and Cameron. We scampered up to the classroom and looked frantically around for a container to put under the leak. We searched under the sink and around the shelf next to it. Finally, Cameron found an ice-cream container on the shelf. We put it under the leak. Suddenly the bell rang. Cohen came in and helped to move his desk next to Harpers. Lewis stood somewhere else and thought there was a drip right where he was standing. That’s a tall story I thought.

RAIN
Yesterday when I got to school there was a huge wet puddle that looked big enough for a whale in front of the gate. So I had to walk in the rain to find a new way in. I found one but the ground was even wetter. Splosh, splosh, splosh, I just got through it. When I tried to get inside the door was locked, but someone opened it and I ran up the stairs and pushed the door open and then the bell rang.

BAD RAIN
Yesterday I was driving home. Splish, splash, me and Mum were knee deep in an humongous puddle. I was like, WOW! The puddle was close to Port Chalmers. The puddle went over the window when we went through it. We went home peacefully and my burman cat cuddled into me. I read a book and finally wen to sleep. “Good night,” I said to Princess, also known as my cat.

THE RAINY DAY
One morning I got drenched. I was as wet as a fish. It was raining so bad that if I took a step out, I’d get drenched. There was a super huge puddle. It was stretched across the concrete. I had to go through because I couldn’t go around otherwise I would still go through it. So I went through it. My feet got soaked and it felt horrible. When I was in the school gates I saw so many earthworms. I’ve never seen so many earthworms in my life. They were spread everywhere. Then finally I got to the classroom. The classroom was cosy and warm.
